Traveling in Guatemala is a wonderful experience, and Long Way Home can serve as your homebase for a variety of enlightening activities. Whether you want to sit on a beach, jump in a lake, step into ancient history, raft down the Rio Dulce, or study up on your geology, Guatemala is one of the most ecologically diverse countries in the world to do it. Take a look at this recent geologic field survey of volcanic activity in and around San Juan Comalapa. It was performed by one of our volunteers Ryan Beyer during his stay with LWH.

Ryan, who came to Guatemala with very little spanish was able to hold down the fort during five weeks and always maintained an attitude of "what can I do to help." Once again thank you so much.

Soccer Field Inaugurated
February 7, 2006
We just had our soccer stadium inaguration and during the inaguration, and we invited and recognized the community leaders who donated more than 1,000$ to help with the construction of the stadium. During the past week we recieved another 700$ to purchase a water pump until we have a more permanent system. This does not seem to be much money, but for a group of Comalapans to get together, knock on doors, and follow through with their committment is an enormous success.

McBurnie from Vancouver worked for Long Way Home all summer. You
can read about what he did to see just what opportunities
Long Way Home has to off, whether you have a week, a month or even a year.
